I was coming home on the train from work, tired after a day spent on my feet, and managed to get a seat despite it being peak hour. As I settled in whilst plugged into my iPod, I noticed a middle-aged man next to me taking out a discman from his backpack.
I looked at my sleek MP3 player, in its snug leather case, then to his clunky discman circa mid '90s.
Just then, I didn't feel proud of my newer, snazzier gadget. Instead, I felt guilty - guilty for being part of a generation of excess.

You can't help but wonder if a woman's Fendi is genuine when she's wearing a T-shirt that says 'Espada'.

Earlier today, I suddenly started worrying that all the alcohol I've been imbibing could possibly be snuffing out my brain cells.
I think my fears may be justified after all.

You know you should probably cut down on trips to the bookstore when you realise that the same title you were contemplating on getting- but thankfully decided not to- has already been sitting on your shelf for several months (unread, obviously).

Last night I had a dream where I was witnessing a gale so forceful, it managed to uproot a tree and carry it some distance away. So naturally it was strange, and a little frightening, to wake up from that dream and hear the hollow cooing of strong winds outside.
I peered out the window, and watched the leaves of a coconut tree being beaten about in the wind. It looked to me almost like shrimp, the individual fronds being its legs. I just lay on my stomach watching it for about a minute, and it occurred to me that life would be so dull without imagination.
The sun was setting as we were heading to dubby and bunny's new place for dinner tonight, and the skies were lovely, awash with brilliant shades of colour. The trees formed silhouettes against the backdrop of vibrant orange, the branches like the little veins of a swath of lace.
I couldn't help but feel inspired by the shroud of immense beauty, and in those moments, the world seemed just perfect.
